Frequently Asked Questions

Flower Bouquets & Subscriptions

A stunning custom, seasonal bouquet by Nature's Creations by Rebecca

How long do your fresh flower bouquets last?

With proper care, our fresh flower bouquets typically last 7-10 days. We include care instructions with every bouquet to help you maximize their beauty and longevity. Start with a clean vase, trim stems at a 45-degree angle, and remove any foliage below the waterline. Use flower food, place them out of direct sunlight or heat, and change the water every 2–3 days to prevent bacterial growth.

Can I request specific flowers or colors for my bouquet?

Each bouquet is designed using what’s currently blooming on the farm, making every arrangement unique. While I can’t promise specific flowers, I’m happy to keep your color preferences in mind whenever possible. Contact us with your preferences, and we'll let you know what we can do.

Are your flowers locally grown?

Yes! All of our flowers are grown right here in Eastern Connecticut. We practice sustainable, eco-friendly growing methods and harvest flowers at their peak freshness. This means you get the highest quality blooms while supporting local agriculture.

What flowers are in season right now?

Our available flowers change with the seasons. Spring brings tulips, daffodils, and early blooms. Summer features dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers, and a wide variety of cutting flowers and foliage. Fall showcases late-season dahlias and autumn colors. Contact us or check our shop page for current availability.

Dahlia Tubers

The many shapes and sizes of one type of dahlia

When should I plant dahlia tubers?

Plant dahlia tubers after the last frost date in your area, typically late April to early May in Connecticut. The soil should be warm (at least 60°F) for best results. Choose a sunny spot with nutrient-dense, well-draining soil. Prep the area by loosening the earth to 12 inches deep, mixing in plenty of organic compost and a balanced granular fertilizer. When planting, ensure the "eyes" or new sprouts face upward. The top of the tuber should sit roughly 4 inches below the surface once covered. Firm the soil down to eliminate air pockets and give it a thorough initial watering, but don't overwater as that can rot the tuber. We include detailed planting instructions with every tuber order.

How do I store dahlia tubers until planting?

Keep tubers in a cool, dry place (40-50°F) until you're ready to plant. A basement, garage, or refrigerator works well. Store them in paper bags or cardboard boxes with some peat moss or vermiculite to prevent them from drying out completely. Monitor periodically over winter.

Will my dahlia tubers bloom the first year?

Yes! Dahlia tubers typically bloom 8-10 weeks after planting. You can expect beautiful blooms from mid-summer through the first frost. The plants will continue to produce flowers throughout the growing season with regular deadheading.

What varieties of dahlia tubers do you offer?

We grow a curated selection of dahlia varieties chosen for their beauty, vigor, and bloom production. Our collection includes dinner plate dahlias, decorative types, cactus dahlias, and pompon varieties https://websites.godaddy.com/shopin a range of colors. Check our shop for current availability and variety descriptions.

Can I divide and replant my dahlia tubers?

Absolutely! Dahlias multiply underground, and you can dig up and divide the tubers in fall after the first frost. Each division with an "eye" (growth point) can be replanted the following spring. We're happy to provide guidance on dividing and storing your tubers.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, we only ship within the United States due to agricultural restrictions.

What if my tuber doesn’t sprout?

Dahlia tubers require warm soil and patience to sprout. If your tuber hasn’t sprouted within 4–6 weeks of planting, check for signs of rot or dehydration. If an issue arises, please reach out within 48 hours of delivery so we can assist.

What if my tuber arrives damaged?

We do our best to ensure quality, but if your tuber arrives damaged or unsproutable, please email us within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos so we can review and resolve the issue. Since tubers are perishable, we cannot honor refund or replacement requests beyond this timeframe.

Do you accept returns or offer refunds?

Due to the perishable nature of tubers, we do not accept returns. However, if there’s an issue with your order, please reach out—we want you to have a successful dahlia season!
